Central to Jeremy’s work is the layering of different visual and thematic elements of the past used to create an image that pertains to the present. In this case, the image of luxuriously reclined woman of Ingres or Manet is transformed into an 1940’s calendar pinup. The model, a former burlesque queen, referred to herself a cowgirl and had a closet full of faded gingham.
